Learn to Scuba!

Learn to Scuba

The Gulf of Mexico is home to abundant fish life, colorful reefs and a wealth of historic wrecks. If you enjoy the water and are curious about what lies below the surface, it would be a shame not to go down and find out for yourself. We can help.

N 2 Deep Divers specializes in customized diver training programs for individuals, couples and small groups. We offer entry level diver certification programs, as well as advanced, specialty and leadership courses.

Why learn to dive (or continue your education) with N 2 Deep? We live on the water, spending nearly every day exploring its mysteries. This isn’t a hobby for us. It’s what we love and what we do.

Getting Certified: Common Questions

Who? Who Can Learn? Are you at least 12 years old? Are you in reasonably good health? Can you swim 200 yards (any stroke, no time limit)? Odds are, you can be a diver.
What? What is Involved? The course is divided into three parts:
  • Self Study: You do this before the course begins, using our modern self-study materials. Learn at your own pace and convenience, in the comfort of your home or office.
  • Academic Review and Skill Development: Here we review all of the information you have mastered at home, then get in the water where you will see and then practice diving’s fundamental skills.
  • Skill Application: In the final phase of the course, you will apply what you have learned in confined water on a series of open-water training dives with your instructor.
Where? Where Do You Learn? Academic review, skill development sessions and open-water training dives all take place right here in Apalachicola. We have our own, indoor heated pool on premises. And, because we operate our own dive boats, we get to take our students diving in the ocean — an opportunity many beginning students don’t have.
When? When Can You Learn? Because we specialize in training individuals, couples and small groups, we can teach on a schedule that’s convenient for you. Depending on how comfortable you are in the water, it is possible to complete all course requirements in as little as three days. Call us for specific information on scheduling options.
How Much? How Much Does It Cost? The course fee is $350 per student and includes.
  • All study materials.
  • All instruction.
  • Use of all equipment (except as noted below).
  • Open-water training dives aboard our boat.
  • Certification card processing.

Students are responsible for supplying just the basic equipment items listed below, transportation to and from training sites, and accommodations and meals, as needed. There are no other costs involved.

Equipment What Equipment Do You Need? Although we supply most of the equipment items needed for the course, there are a few items for which comfort and fit are so important, you really need to have your own. (These are also items that, when you travel as a certified diver, you will be expected to supply.) This list includes:
  • Mask and snorkel.
  • Adjustable scuba fins.
  • Wetsuit boots.
  • Mask de-fog.
  • Swimsuit and towel.
  • Carrying bag for personal equipment items.

N 2 Deep Divers carries a wide assortment of masks, snorkels, fins and related accessories. We are experts at helping you achieve the best possible fit for these important personal equipment items.
